It was 1975 when YiaYia and Papou first opened their tiny food shop in the heart of Athens , Greece. Each day, they would wake before the sun to prepare wholesome Greek dishes for the locals. They prided themselves on the freshness and simplicity of their food.
After many happy years of feeding the people of the village, Yia Yia and Papou began to seek new opportunities. They decided to move their family to Montreal, Canada, along with their business.
The transition was not easy, but it was well worth it — Montrealers loved their food and business quickly picked up. Since then, their recipes, traditions and philosophy have been passed down through the generations of their family, who have always been a part of running the restaurant.
30 years later, their grandson brings his own modern take to the family classics. Inspired by YiaYia and Papou’s legacy, he wanted to bring fresh, authentic Greek food to the locals of his hometown, so he opened his own food truck. He named it Athena, in honour of Yia Yia. Cooking with fresh ingredients, treating them with love and care, he made food that remained true to the flavors of his heritage, but with a modern twist he could take to the street.
When it comes to food, there’s nothing quite like the taste of something that’s homemade with fresh ingredients and made with love. On our Food Truck, we take pride in providing food made just like that.
